Saturday was the 70th anniversary of one of the worst single incidents in the Blitz, when over 100 people sheltering in the Kennington Park air raid shelter were killed when a bomb hit. There was a moving and well-attended ceremony in the park in which four rose bushes were planted close to the memorial stone.
