Westminster Tower Public Exhibition 24 April

From CLS Holdings:
You are invited to attend a public exhibition detailing proposals for a forthcoming planning application to refurbish our existing offices and convert some to residential accommodation at Westminster Tower on the Albert Embankment.
Before a planning application is submitted to Lambeth Council, you have an opportunity to see the plans and comment on the proposals. The exhibition will include images and detailed information of the plans. Members of the project team will be available to answer any questions.
Our proposal
We are proposing to refurbish the existing Westminster Tower office building, which is now inappropriate for the modern office environment. Additionally, we propose a change of use of some of the office space to housing including shared ownership housing.
The redesign has been carried out to improve energy performance of the building and the built environment on the Albert Embankment. We will also be improving the frontage and façade of the building. The façade will now be mainly Portland Stone to recognise and reflect the character of the Southbank area.
About CLS
Westminster Tower has been owned since the 1990s by Three Albert Embankment Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of local property investor CLS Holdings plc. CLS has its headquarters located in Vauxhall where it has been investing for over 20 years.
We hope you will be able to come along to our exhibition – we look forward to hearing your views.
If you are unable to attend and would like more information please contact us via email, letter or Freephone.

Improvements to Lambeth Bridge Westminster roundabout

Transport for London are planning safety improvements at Lambeth Bridge's western roundabout.

The proposals include:
·         Extending footways and traffic islands to reduce traffic speeds and provide more space for pedestrians
·         Raising the zebra crossings to the same level as the footway on all four roundabout approaches in order to reduce traffic speeds
·         Converting the footway around the roundabout to ‘shared space’ for pedestrians and cyclists, meaning it can be used by those cyclists who prefer to use the zebra crossings instead of the roundabout

You can also view and respond to the proposals at TfL's website. the deadline for comments is Friday 26 October.

The improvements are part of TfL’s Better Junctions programme.

Whilst supporting the proposals, your local Labour councillors have also asked TfL to repave the footways over the bridge, which are dangerously uneven.

Overnight work to Lambeth Bridge - including changes to cycle lanes

Transport for London (TfL is planning essential night-time maintenance works on Lambeth Bridge from Tuesday 30 August to Wednesday 7 September 2011, subject to weather conditions.

TfL is firmly committed to minimising disruption to traffic, therefore the works will take place overnight, between 21:00 and 05:30hrs, when traffic levels are around 20 per cent lower. These essential works will not only give road users a smoother journey but they will also help reduce carriageway noise and the need for future maintenance closures, benefiting local residents, businesses and the travelling public.

As part of the maintenance works, TfL has taken the opportunity to review and improve conditions for cyclists on the bridge. In addition to resurfacing, the westbound cycle lane will be widened to 1.5m to provide a safer facility for cyclists. The eastbound cycle lane will be incorporated into a bus and cycle lane to allow for this change.

The works programme is the following:

30 August to 2 September 2011, Lambeth Bridge resurfacing
3 to 7 September 2011, Lambeth Bridge expansion joints replacement

Lambeth Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic on the above dates between 21:00 and 05:30hrs.

Clearly signed diversion routes will be put in place whilst the bridge is closed. Buses which use Lambeth Bridge will be placed on diversion during the overnight closures, and diversion routes will be clearly signed at local bus stops.

Should you require further information or an update during the delivery of these works please contact TfL's Streets Customer Services department on 0845 305 1234 or via their website at www.tfl.gov.uk/contact.

Maintenance works to Lambeth Bridge

Ringway Jacobs on behalf of Transport for London (TfL) has been appointed to carry out essential night time maintenance works on Lambeth Bridge from the 27 to the 30 December 2010, subject to weather conditions.

The works, which have been scheduled to occur overnight, have been planned to take place between Christmas and new year, when traffic levels are around 20 per cent lower, to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum. These essential works will not only give road users, especially cyclists, a smoother drive, but they will also help reduce carriageway noise and the need for disruptive maintenance closures, benefiting local residents and businesses.

The following work will take place:

27 and 28 December 2010
Essential structural and maintenance repairs will be undertaken to the bridge. Lambeth Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic on the 27 and 28 December 2010 between 8pm and 5am on each day.

To maximise the use of the above traffic management, TfL will also be carrying out other maintenance works on each bridge, including graffiti removal, lamp column maintenance and paving works.

Signed diversions will be put in place to enable vehicular traffic to continue their journey. Buses which use Lambeth Bridge will be placed on diversion during the overnight closure. Passengers should check information at local bus stops for diversion details.

TfL is also currently planning to carry out additional work on Lambeth bridge during early 2011 to replace the expansion joints along the structure, helping to extend the life of the bridge. TfL will work to coordinate these works to ensure that any closures take place during the least disruptive times and do not clash with other works on the nearby road network.
