Newport Street nightclub rejected after residents' objections

Lambeth's Licensing Committee have backed local residents by rejected an application for a nightclub in Arch 145 Newport Street.

18 objections and two petitions against the application were received. Three residents joined Councillor Mark Harrison to speak at the meeting.

The Committee agreed that the pavement area adjacent to the venue was indistinct and inadequate, and was therefore not suitable for the number of people able to attend the venue to queue and go through the security procedures safely.

They also agreed that the arrival and departure of guests would result in noise causing a public nuisance to residents in Newport Street and Lambeth Walk.
